Ever since the realisation of the second Maasvlakte, this area is monitored for heights on a regular basis. During these checks however surveying ‘The Sharkfin’ was somehow always skipped. Till present no good data was available. Skeye was requested to perform a highly accurate survey at low tide with a drone so the digital terrain model could later be combined with earlier captured hydrographic data.
Skeye mobilised during the first low tide and surveyed the complete area in several flights. The very detailed results pleased our client who performed a crosscheck on our data and came to the conclusion that on the hard surface Skeye had realised an average difference in Z of 0,020 m and a standard deviation of 0.024. ‘The Sharkvin’ was in good condition.
